ADS OF THE DAY: Nike
In the early 90’s, London agency Simons Palmer Denton Clemmow & Johnson picked up the UK advertising for Nike.
It wasn’t such a big account then.
But it was a great piece of business to work on.
Over in the states, US agency Wieden & Kennedy had been doing outstanding creative.
SPDC&J were under pressure to do the same.
The agency were actually hired by the Americans to do just the specialist football press and print.
But the creatives ignored that and worked up ideas for all kinds of sports.
Before long, this became one of the biggest and best poster campaigns running in London.
And the creative department started winning tons of awards for the work.
