ADS OF THE DAY: National Railway Museum
The creative team behind much of Nike’s award-winning work was Mark Denton and Chris Palmer.
They met on a TV shoot for Cadbury’s creme eggs and were soon working together at Bartle Bogle Hegarty.
A few years later, Mark and Chris left to set up Simons Palmer Denton Clemmow & Johnson where they picked up the Nike account.
At firrt, they were asked to work on football only. But soon they were doing the lot – running, basketball, rugby, athletics, tennis, the Olympics and plenty more.
They were also coming up with award-winning creative work for other slightly less illustrious and sexy clients.
Like the National Railway Museum (NRM) in York.
It tells the story of rail transport in Britain and the way it changed society. It’s also home to the national collection of historically important railway vehicles such as the Mallard and a Japanese bullet train.
It has won many awards, including the European Museum of the Year award in 2001 and the prestigious 2020 Heritage Railway Association Award for Interpretation.
The NRM also picked up gongs for Mark and Chris at SPCD&J. Like this lovely campaign which scooped a D&AD Wood Pencil in 1993.
